Rules



Membership Rules

(a)   Each student will get an RFID tagged library membership card against an undertaking that they shall strictly abide by the rules of library. User must bring the library membership card to library. In case of loss of the library card, Rs. 500/- will be charged for duplicate card.

 

(b)   Five books will be issued to students for fifteen days.

 

(c)   Overdue charges @ Rs. 1.00 per book per day will be levied.

 

(d)   Reference books, journals, OT/SI reports and out of print books will be restricted for reference only and will not be issued.

 

(e)   The issue - return of books and Xerox facilities will be available between 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on working days only.

 

(f)    The library services during extended hours and Saturdays and Sundays will be restricted to reference and consultation only.

 

(g)   For accessing online databases and e-resources, the required information is directly mailed to users and the same may be obtained from the library.

 

(h)   Photocopy of the documents is provided @ Rs. 1.00 per exposure. The photocopy will usually be provided on next day from the date of submitting requisition.


General Rules

(a) Electronic resources listed on the IIFM Vidhya Bharati Library website are restricted by license agreement. Access to electronic resources, including databases, datasets, e-Journals and eBooks are subject to the Copyright Act and terms and conditions that are mentioned in the license agreements signed with IIFM for non-profit, academic use. They should be used only for the purpose of learning, research and teaching.

(b) Please ensure that the resource is used for educational and research purposes and not for commercial purposes. The commercial use, systematic downloading, copying or distributing of information is prohibited.

(c)  Library users will respect prevailing copyright rules for any library material issued to or downloaded by them. Photocopying of any document cover to cover is prohibited. Users must not install, download, copy, or distribute copyrighted materials without the written permission of the LIO.

(d)  Library resources such as books, journals, and electronic materials, etc. are costly and are often rare. They are for the benefit of not only the present but also for the future members of the LI&S. Therefore, Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage Library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books borrowed should be protected from Rain, Dust, Insects, etc.

(e) Before leaving the issue counter, member should satisfy themselves as to whether the Library material lent to them is in sound condition. If not, they should immediately bring the matter to the knowledge of the Library staff at the issue counter; otherwise, they are liable to be held responsible for replacing the material or paying such compensation as fixed by the Library & Information Officer.

(f)   Books removed from the shelves by students, if not required for reference, should be kept on the table nearest to them. Please do not try to shelve them yourself.

(g)  Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the Library.

(h)  All users are requested to keep their mobiles in switched off or silent mode in the Library. Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the library premises.

(i)   The Library is a place of self-study and research, members should maintain an atmosphere of dignity, peace and silence within the Library premises.

(j)   All the Library users are suggested to enter the Library premises in a decent dress.

(k)  The Library & Information Officer has the power to cancel the membership and refuse admission to anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the Library or indulges in any other type of misconduct.


Ø  Lending Rules

 

Every L&IS user shall visit the Library to borrow the library material. Users shall not be allowed to borrow books on behalf of other members.

The various categories of members and their privileges are as follows:

(a) Reference titles and Journals will not be issued to any user. 

(b) Books may be renewed only once provided that there is no reservation against such titles.

(c) The user will hand over the ‘Issue Transaction Slip’ to the attendant at the checkpoint /exit before taking the issued books out of the Library premises.

(d) Books should be brought physically to return/renewals. 

(e) Borrower is fully responsible for the books borrowed in his/her account. 

(f) A document may be recalled before the due date, if required urgently in the Library. 

(g) If the borrower fails to return the book(s) within a reasonable time of its due date as indicated in the recall notice/due date slip (pasted on the last page of the book), the borrower is liable to pay the applicable charges.

Reservation
 
(a)  Books (that are issued to other members) can be reserved// hold through OPAC


On receipt of the reserved books, the member will be communicated about its availability in the Library. The member should collect such titles within 24 hours of the above communication from the Library Circulation Desk. The reservation lapses automatically after 24 hours, and the next person on the list of reservations will get the book.

Ø  Photocopy Facilities

(a)  Members may get photocopies of select chapters/portion of non-issuable resources on payment of Rs. 1.00 per exposure.

Ø  Overdue charges on overdue Books

(a)  Fine on overdue books will be charged at the rate of Rs.1/- per day.

(b) 
If the book is reported (in writing) as lost/misplaced by the user, the overdue charges are not levied in such case from the date of report until the same is replaced. However, such transactions must be settled within two months from the date of reporting of the loss.


Ø 
Books Lost by Members

If a book or any of the above material is lost or mutilated beyond usable condition, the following rules will apply:

(c)  The book has to be replaced with the latest edition of that material.

(d)  Pay the cost of the latest edition of the book plus 25% of the cost of book as administrative charge.

(e)  Same is replaced (it must be resolved within two months). However, if the member fails to resolve the issues within the prescribed time, applicable rules relating to the overdue charges will apply.

f)   If a book belonging to a set is lost, the borrower will replace the entire set at their own cost along with administrative charge.
